Shoemaker and Kephart Break Out on Poison Lone Star Tour

Amateur Division: Juan Longoria, Steve Espinoza, Jessica Singh, Matthew Shoemaker, Martin Ramos, Mille Almaraz, Vance Rodriguez, David Leal, Greg Medina, Scott Kephart, Patrick Perez

Matthew Shoemaker and Scott Kephart break out, winning their respective divisions at the second stop on the Poison Lone Star Billiards Tour, held at Fast Eddie’s (Embassy Oaks) in San Antonio. Shoemaker plowed through the 53-player, amateur 9-ball division, ousting Scott Kephart in the final, 5-2. Kephart annihilated the 46-player, open 9-ball division, overwhelming Rudy Sanchez in the final, 6-3. These are first-time, undefeated wins for both players.

On February 1st-2nd, 2025, title sponsor Poison by Predator Cues, sponsors Predator Cues, Alamo Billiards, Outsville Billiards, and Team Straight Pool Eye, facilitated another successful event for players across Texas. Nearly 80 competitors, including 23 Gulf Coast Tour women, participated in the second stop, held at Fast Eddie’s (Embassy Oaks) in San Antonio, Texas. The event was played on 8’ tables, in a non-smoking environment, using Predator Arcos II ball sets on each table, and Accu-Racks by Outsville Billiards.

In the amateur division, winners’ side final eight, Jessica Singh slid past Patrick Perez, 5-4, and Matthew Shoemaker defeated Martin Ramos, 5-4. David Leal eased by Rick Moreno, 5-4, while Scott Kephart escaped Vance Rodriguez, 5-4. In the next round, Shoemaker ousted Singh, 5-3, and Leal denied Kephart, 5-3. Hot seat action witnessed Shoemaker slide by Leal, 5-4. On the west side, and in the final eight, Moreno eliminated Rodriguez, 4-2, and Singh, 4-0. Ramos sent Greg Medina packing, 4-1, but fell to Kephart, 4-0. Kephart went on to disappoint Moreno, 4-2, and Leal, 4-3, to meet Shoemaker in the finals.

In the first set of the true, double elimination finals, Shoemaker wasted little time, besting Kephart, 5-2, to capture his first-ever Tour victory.

In the open division, winners’ side final eight, Rudy Sanchez detoured Eric Aicinena, 6-2, and Riz Dimalin overcame Steve Espinoza, 6-4. Joseph Allejos upset Jerry Prado, 6-5, while Jaime Trevino defeated Patrick Perez, 6-5. In the next round, it was Luna over Sanchez, 6-3, and Kephart overpowering Trevino, 6-1. Hot seat action witnessed Kephart deny Luna, 6-5. On the west side, in the final eight, Moreno took down Allejos, 5-1, but fell to Sanchez, 5-2. Aicinena, who suffered an early loss to Sanchez, defeated Matthew Shoemaker, 5-1, and Jaime Trevino, 6-1. Once again, Sanchez denied Aicinena, 5-2, moving into the final three. In the next match, Sanchez squeezed by Luna, 5-4, to meet Kephart in the finals. An undefeated Kephart came on strong, overwhelming Sanchez, 6-3, bringing home his first, Tour victory.
